Before, I could not smile properly because I was afraid that the people would see the missing front tooth. Good thing, I found a dental clinic that is providing dental implant services.
It was so embarrassing when I lost my front teeth because people would often give me weird looks whenever they see it. Worse, it would not grow back because that was a permanent tooth. I could not handle the feeling of uneasiness for long so I used some of my savings and got a dental implant.
Consultation
When I first visited their clinic, I got a little nervous because I went there alone. Good thing, all of the staff and doctors were accommodating. I eventually felt comfortable and relaxed during the consultation. After the consultation, they performed an x-ray to get a dental impression and provided me with a treatment plan. I was glad to know that bone grafting won’t be needed because it would take at least 4 months before the dental implant can be done. Plus, I heard it can be painful so I felt extra relieved I won’t have to undergo that kind of torture.
Procedure
During the implant replacement, the dentist injected first a local aesthetic on the affected area. It was a little uncomfortable because I felt a numbness but at least I didn’t feel any pain when the dentist started the procedure. After it, the dentist told me that it would take five months for it to fully heal. It was kind of long but I had to endure it.
After a few months, I went back for the abutment placement and another few weeks, it was time for the final procedure which is the crown placement. When I finished all the procedure, I was glad that I can finally use my new front teeth! I no longer have to smile looking like I was constipated all the time because I’ve been trying so hard to hide my teeth.
Post-Surgery
The doctor explained to me that there might be complications after the procedure. I might experience an infection or my body rejects the implant. Worst, I might get nerve damaged because of the drilling or implant replacement. Fortunately, none of them happened. Although I did feel some post-surgery discomfort like my gums swelled and bled for a while and I could feel pain at the implant area. But eventually, all of the discomforts were gone. It was just temporary.
